Reactrix Dead

Just learned that Reactrix has folded last December. Reactrix made devices that created interactive floor projections and was among the coolest ad technologies I've seen on the job. They tried to create a media network of their devices; I always thought they should've been in business of equipment rental.  Catchyoo is a surviving competitor.

Cool Projection Systems: Spotless Light, Gesturetek's Cube, Catchyoo

After the post about Reactrix going out of business, a couple of companies got in touch to tell about their own projection systems:

The Cube by Gesturetek is "is interactive floor projection system that's turnkey, plug and play and portable."

Spotless Light is "a patented technology that senses reflective surfaces and focuses the projection beam on just those surfaces."

And Catchyoo by LM3Labs seems similar to Reactrix in that it also operates as an outdoor network.

Fog Screen

Here's a pretty cool piece of tech. It's a screen made of dry fog, which means it's a screen you can walk through. More officially, "Using nothing more than tap water and ultrasonic waves, FogScreen projection screen machines employ a patented technology to create a smooth foggy airflow that captures images just like a screen. You can walk right through a FogScreen projection screen without getting wet. The microscopic fog droplets actually feel dry to the touch, just like air." Wonder if you can combine it with Reactrix.

Promo Magazine on Emerging Marketing Tech

Promo magazine asks marketing directors about the technologies they find most promising. Besides everyone's favorites - podcasting, blogs, texting - these people talk about responsive displays by Reactrix, TiVo coupons, in-store TV networks. The words of ultimate wizdom: "Make friends with geeks. It's important to know people who market high-tech products who can bridge the gap between tech speak and marketing speak." Maybe I should copyright this blog's tagline before it becomes the next buzz phrase.
